Stereophile's Tom Fine recently chatted with DragonFly designer Gordon Rankin about the history of the award-winning portable USB DAC, its design goals and challenges, and how the latest model, DragonFly Copper, exceeds previous iterations.
"I am a minimalist designer at heart. When I used to design computers, controllers, and networking stuff, I would tell the other engineers that I could do it with fewer parts than they could. That typically meant my designs worked better and longer with less power and [fewer] failures, and, in audio terms, less noise."
