Key Features & Technology Explained

  • Solid conductors prevent strand-interaction, a major source of dynamic distortion in cables.

  • A carefully finessed combination of our high-purity Long-Grain Copper and highest-purity Perfect-Surface Copper+ conductors minimize distortion caused by grain boundaries.

  • Alternating layers of metal and carbon-loaded synthetics "shield the shield," minimizing RF noise before it reaches the layer attached to ground.

  • Star-Quad Geometry reduces time-smearing while preserving dynamics, and clarity.

  • Foamed-Polyethylene's high air content minimizes energy absorption for clearer sound.

  • All internal conductors are Direction-Controlled to reduce RF noise.

Description

AudioQuest’s Type 5, a direct descendant of our longtime high-value workhorse, Type 4, uses the same fundamental Star-Quad geometry as its predecessor but incorporates several important performance upgrades: Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ Sonic-Signature conductors have been added to ensure a smoother, more natural sound. The outer diameter of the cable has increased, allowing more space between the individual conductors, decreasing distortion-causing interaction between adjacent conductors by 35%. While Type 5 is a superb full-range cable, it can also be doubled up to work as a very effective Double-BiWire combination cable. Type 5 is available in a black and brown braid, terminated with AudioQuest’s high-quality SureGrip 300 connectors, or on spools—either braided or with a CL3/FT4 red-striped black PVC jacket.
  • Solid perfect-surface copper and long-grain copper conductors
  • Noise-Dissipation using carbon loading, and direction-controlled conductors
  • Balanced star-quad geometry reduces time-smearing while preserving dynamics and clarity
