When Audio-Ultra's Ed DeVito arrived in North Carolina to install a client's new audio system without the specified speaker cables, he improvised. Following a quick trip to Home Depot, he was able to get his client up and running with a carefully terminated pair of 8AWG speaker cable. The sound was surprisingly good, but Ed knew the system could deliver more.
A few weeks later, Ed returned with Brave Heart.
So, how did our $5,790 cable compare to the $25 Home Depot wire? The system opened up, gaining warmth, resolution, impact, and scale.
Were the sonic gains worth the extra expense (and another cross-country flight)? Well, the client was "ecstatic," says Ed.
In Ed's words:
A system of this caliber is extremely capable of doing great things. It's going to put you in the moment where the speakers are going to disappear and you're going to lose yourself into the music. And while there's nothing inherently wrong with the Home Depot conductor, the performance we experienced with AudioQuest Brave Heart took our enjoyment of the system to a whole 'nother level.
In this fascinating video, we also get to see before-and-after photos of the client's system, a few glimpses into the beautiful Audio-Ultra Music Rooms, and a sneak peek at our new ThunderBird and Dragon XTRM speaker cables.
Why are cables important to Audio-Ultra and their customers?
"Cables," Ed says, "deserve consideration alongside the other components in a well-defined hi-fi system. They truly do."
