BigFoot BASS

Bass Speaker Cable with RF/ND-Tech

BigFoot BASS with RF/ND-Tech is an ideal speaker cable for the Bass and Midrange inputs of either a BiWireable or TriWireable loudspeaker when used in combination with Lone Ranger or Athena ZERO-Tech speaker cables. A BiWire COMBO with BASS and ZERO cables joined together at the amplifier end is usually most convenient, though joining them is optional.

Key Features & Technology Explained

  • Solid conductors prevent strand-interaction, a major source of dynamic distortion in cables.

Description

BigFoot BASS features several tried-and-true AudioQuest materials and design elements, including Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ conductors that have been direction-controlled for low distortion and efficient Noise-Dissipation.

Like all Folk Hero and Mythical Creature speaker cables, BigFoot BASS uses ZERO-Tech, which eliminates the electrostatic field between the cable's high and low signal conductors, enabling linear Radio-Frequency Noise-Dissipation and uncompressed current transfer.

AudioQuest BASS cables add RF/ND-Tech, which greatly reduces distortion caused by induced radio-frequency noise and signal masking, yielding unprecedented levels of Noise-Dissipation across the widest bandwidth of radio frequencies possible.

All latest-generation Folk Heroes and Mythical Creatures share a physical construction that places positive and negative sides in discrete housings. Not only does this aid physical flexibility, enabling simpler installation and more satisfying user experience, but the design allows for additional materials to significantly improve the Noise-Dissipation aspects of the cable’s design.

Made for BiWiring

When a speaker has separate Bass and Treble inputs, running separate cables to the treble and bass “halves” of a speaker significantly reduces distortion. BiWiring keeps the large signal currents associated with bass energy out of the treble cable, allowing the delicate upper frequencies to travel a less modulated path, like taking the waves out of the water when you swim.

With RF/ND-Tech, the advantage of BiWiring is much more dramatic. Patented RF-Canceling Ground-Noise Dissipation attracts RF energy away from the amplifier’s output. Because RF/ND-Tech is so effective, BASS model cables are only for 10kHz and below — Do not use a BASS cable full-range or on treble.

BigFoot BASS is the Bass cable for Lone Ranger or Athena ZERO-Tech speaker cables. A BiWire COMBO with BASS and ZERO cables joined together at the amplifier is usually most convenient, though joining them is optional. When TriWiring, use BASS cables on the Midrange and Bass inputs.

Do not Double-BiWire with two ZERO-Tech cables. Your amp will distort.

  • RF/ND-Tech Level 10 Linear Noise-Dissipation: AudioQuest’s RF-on-ground Noise-Dissipation (RF/ND-Tech) greatly reduces distortion caused by induced radio-frequency noise and signal masking, yielding unprecedented levels of Noise-Dissipation across the widest bandwidth (range) of radio frequencies possible. Our unique circuit topology uses a common-mode phase-cancelling array, providing linear noise dissipation across the entire length of the cable.
  • ZERO-Tech: The only complete way to eliminate characteristic-impedance mismatches between a cable and the attached source and load is for the cable not to have any fixed characteristic-impedance value. ZERO-Tech accomplishes this by eliminating interaction between the insulation (dielectric) and the cable’s conductors—enabling uncompressed current transfer. All-important transient current is unrestricted, and RF Noise-Dissipation is linearized (consistent octave to octave).
  • Solid PSC+ (Perfect-Surface Copper+) Conductors: Solid conductors prevent strand-interaction, a major source of dynamic distortion. Extreme-purity PSC+ solid copper minimizes distortion caused by grain boundaries and maximizes RF Noise-Dissipation.
  • 72v Dielectric-Bias System (DBS) with RF Noise-Trap: Insulation is also a dielectric that acts like a shunt-filter. Biasing the dielectric both minimizes dielectric-noise and linearizes the filter, significantly improving wide-bandwidth dissipation of induced noise.
  • Perfect-Surface Silver Shield Drains: Significantly aid in the efficient dissipation of RF-Noise.
  • Permanent Molecular Optimization (PMO): PMO is a controlled extreme stressing of the dielectric materials — a near-death experience for them — that significantly and permanently (unlike running-in) helps the cable get out of the music's way. PMO does not replace the important aural benefit of playing music over extended periods of time. Music (modulated AC signal) slightly stresses the dielectric and connection interfaces, significantly benefitting cable performance.
  • BiWiring: BigFoot BASS with RF/ND-Tech is an ideal cable for the Bass and Midrange inputs of either a BiWireable or TriWireable loudspeaker when used in combination with Lone Ranger or Athena ZERO-Tech speaker cables. A BiWire COMBO with BASS and ZERO cables joined together at the amplifier end is usually most convenient, though joining them is optional. Do not Double-BiWire with two ZERO-Tech cables. Your amp will distort.
  • Extremely Pure Red-Copper Spades or Bananas are Cold-Welded. The bare parts are submerged (hung) in silver instead of being tumbled in a lower-grade solution. Speaker breakouts and plug casings are ABS, not metal, to avoid inducing RF Noise into the conductors.
  • Directionality: All drawn metal strands or conductors have a non-symmetrical, and therefore directional, grain structure. AudioQuest controls the resulting RF impedance variation so that noise is drained away from where it will cause distortion.
